Laser Surgery

Less pain. Less bleeding. Less swelling.

Wouldn't you want that for your pet, should they have to undergo surgery? Carlson Veterinary Clinic is able to offer laser surgery, whether for simple wart removal or more invasive procedures.

The laser can replace a scalpel, providing an alternative to traditional surgical techniques. It can be controlled very precisely by our veterinarians - removing only a thin layer of tissue, the laser leaves surrounding areas unaffected, reducing trauma. Laser surgery causes less pain, because it seals nerve endings. It lessens bleeding, because the laser seals small blood vessels as it travels through the tissue. It reduces swelling, because laser energy does not crush, tear, or bruise as its beam of intense light contacts the tissue. Your pet also experiences a greatly reduced risk of infection, because as the laser removes diseased tissue, it sterilizes the area, killing bacteria.

Lasers have successfully been used in human surgeries for over thirty years, and are becoming much more integrated into veterinary practices. After all, don't we want our pets to recover as quickly and comfortably as possible?

Laser surgery is ideal for any number of surgical procedures, especially feline declaws. It can remove many common cysts, tumors, and warts. It can make external incisions, separate internal organs or tumors from surrounding tissue, and even allow your veterinarian to perform delicate surgeries around your pet's eyes or in their mouth. And all of this is done with minimal discomfort to your faithful companion, making their recovery period easier for them and for you.

Carlson Veterinary Clinic is pleased to be able to offer laser surgery for the safe and most comfortable treatment of your pet. Talk to one of our veterinarians if you have further questions.
